Wellington 

place. Only the best city in New Zealand! Struth! From the beehive-shaped legislative buildings to the furnicular railroad that takes you down to the cricket rink there is little about Wellington that won't stop your heart with its grandeur.

Taken off the natives by enterprising Europeans in the seventeenth century, Wellington was rapidly developed into a pasture for sheep.

Rugby is played a bit but the terrain isn't really favourable and the people are more likely to follow lawn bowling or rounders.
Wellington is nearly as pretty as Christchurch and, with a good bit of work, could be as interesting as Auckland.

Without the first-class rugby.

n. Tasty entree consisting of a tasty slice of duck in between two slices of lightly toasted rye bread. Also a sexual euphemism in New Zealand.

Concrete spires surrounding halal food carts beside world-class museums. Pigeons. So many pigeons. Many with feathers.

n. Canadian term for an athlete who is on a "hot"' streak. Can also be used in other settings such as workplaces and often is used ironically.

n. Canadian term for the ice-curling "athlete" who uses his broom to mark where the stone-shooter should stand but never sweeps or sweats. Thus a broomer is any lazy individual.

olympic "athlete" 

n. Any participant in an olympic event that obviously isn't a real sport, eg. ice-curling, luge, modern pentathalon. Often these people are smokers, out of shape, and Canadian.

split the rings 

v. The act of throwing a curling rock into the central house to score a deuce. Similar to throwing a perfect game in baseball, or scoring a hat trick in cricket only not so rare or difficult, or exciting to watch. Also a sexual euphemism in Canada and rural Sweden.
