007 π

Short for “Spy Pi.” The coded term for a math secret agent—who usually works as a journal or college textbook math editor, reviewer, or consultant—who would leak out information about submitted journal articles or contracted unedited manuscripts on the number π to some tenured faculty members (or to those seeking a permanent position in academia) in exchange for cash or favors.
Although the pool of 007 π operatives worldwide is unknown, however, their number is likely to be much higher than expected, as they’re sought after by faculty members who’d resort to unethical means and ways to secure tenure.

Crypto Zero

When speculating in cryptocurrencies and crypto assets is a perfect recipe to delayed or no retirement, bankruptcy, or even jail imprisonment, thanks to the greed, dishonesty, and irresponsibility of founders of both cryptocurrency exchanges and stablecoins.
Since the collapse of crypto exchange FTX, a number of retired folks dabbling in the crypto ecosystem and hoping to maximize their savings have gone from zero crypto to crypto zero.

FTX

A now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange that was helping people to buy and sell crypto assets, but was operating like a Ponzi scheme with the help and promotion of celebrities and influencers, or like an unregulated bank or casino favored by pseudo-geeky speculators.

Faith Is a Feeling.

Not the faith described in the Bible, which doesn’t depend on the storms and successes of life, but rather is based on the unshakable (certain, secure, and sure) promises found in the Word of God—faith is the substance (or assurance) of things hoped for, the evidence (or conviction) of things not seen, as revealed in Hebrews 11:1.
If “faith is a feeling.”—which is dictated by emotions resulting from the ebb and flow of life—it’s no surprise that this kind of fleeting or worldly faith doesn’t resonate with those who demand proof before belief.

Pinocchio Publishing

This is the name a number of educational publishing houses, owned by oft-morally bankrupt bosses ought to call their company, who unspokenly expect their editorial team to behave unethically to justify their obscene pay and those of their family members.

“Say No to X, Y, Z” Bill

The “no algebra, no trauma” law mathematically challenged or symbolically allergic Trumpublicans or QAnonists are pushing for their state governor to sign, which would make the teaching of algebra optional for all grades 7–12 students if they feel that they were not born with the “mathematical gene.”
Florida Gov. DeSantis told non-symbol-minded parents that they’d count on him 100% to sign the “Say No to X, Y, Z” bill if they’d support him as the 2024 Republican Party presidential candidate.

Mathematical Insurrection

When censors from a Department of Education in a state rejected submitted math textbooks from major publishers because their “woke” authors had allegedly tried to indoctrinate children with critical race theory, foreign problem-solving strategies, and multicultural math topics, when in actual fact these math titles contain real-life problems that would help hone students’ problem-solving skills, compared to artificially canned questions of traditional publishers with whom they have a vested interest in—when politics and profits triumph over pedagogy and proficiency.
Last week, with the blessing of their state governor, diehard math educators in Florida carried out a mathematical insurrection against a number of educational publishers for subtly including Common Core pedagogies on top of Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) elements in their textbooks.
