The wall is not a natural limit but often an artificially created barrier: researchers set sample sizes too low, choose overly conservative tests, or refuse to use more powerful methods, then declare the results “inconclusive.” The statistical wall is a rhetorical device used to dismiss effects that challenge established views, masking the fact that the wall was built by the analyst’s own choices.
