Food you get at a restaurant where you order at a register, go sit down, and have it brought to you. Generally faster than a sit-down meal, but better for you (and better-tasting) than fast-food. Examples include small Italian restaurants, Fuddrucker's, and many Asian lunch joints.

Medium food also includes restaurants where you order at the counter, go sit down, and are called back up to get your food a few minutes later.
Mike: Dude, let's hit Wendy's for a quick lunch.

Dave: Nah, I'm trying to lose weight. No fast food. How about medium food?

Mike: Sure, that burger joint on Main Street has a special today. Let's go!

The people who attend goodbye or birthday parties at offices for the sole purpose of eating cake. They tend to stand in the back of the group, chit-chatting among themselves, and come up with something pithy to say to a person they don't know or care too much about just so they can get out of working for half an hour or so.
Luke: Hey, are you coming to Georgia's goodbye party today? She's been downsized.

Ann: Georgia? Isn't she in... accounting?

Luke: Who cares? There's cake!

Ann: You cake vulture.

That joke about George W. Bush was so funny that I laughed for almost a minute, but by the time I recovered, they were talking about 9/11 and my carryover laugh made me look like an asshole.
