When you drop a food on the ground, you have 5 seconds to pick it up before the germs come on it. After you do this, you blow or wipe off the food and eat it. This doesn't apply to sticky foods and dirty floors.

A wholly untrue rule that states that if your food drops to the floor/ground and has contact for less than five seconds, you can simply pick it up and eat it without risk of sickness. This is untrue, of course. Bacteria covers your food upon contact, it doesn't take five seconds for them to attach.
Guy 1:Dude, are you gonna eat that?
Guy 2:Yeah..
Guy 1:But it fell on the floor...
Guy 2:But it wasn't there for five seconds..so according to the Five Second Rule..it's all good.

When you drop food on the floor but still want to eat it.
You have to pick the food up off the ground before 10 seconds. If it has went past the 5 second you must declare that it's went to the 10 second rule.
