An insincere response to someone asking “how are you?” People feel obligated to inquire about the other person to keep from being seen as egocentric, even though it’s obvious they couldn’t care less.

Usually said very quickly without any expectation of a response.

Person 1: “Hello, how are you?”
Person 2: “Goodoweryew?”
