To be manipulated in a work environment through deceit and dishonesty. Generally takes the form of being persuaded into working long hours through empty promises which are inevitably broken.
Martin: "We weren't able to go on a family holiday this year unfortunately. I even had to work through Christmas Eve to try and meet our team's deadline just to qualify for the Christmas bonus I promised."
Jane: "Did you at least get the bonus?"
Martin: "I didn't sleep for 3 days and all I got was a $50 Visa giftcard."
