Short for wordfanfiction/word. Unlike fanfiction, the word fanfic (also just 'fic') is a single noun (pluralized as 'fanfics').
A story written by a fan of a particular wordard/word (movie, book, tv show, video game, etc.), about the characters and world in that series, usually without the original creator's permission.

By the very nature of fanfiction, there're a lot of really terrible fics out there. But when you find a good one - it's great!

A fiction story of a celebrity/famous game written by a fan. A fanfiction is often like a normal fiction, except for that it includes a real life celebrity. Sometimes, it includes the fan writer's name. There are usually antagonists in the story, but it's often a good ending.

An abreviation of fanfiction. It can also be shortened to 'fic'. It is commonly found around fangirls or fansites.
Fanfics are fictional stories written about pre-existing books/films/animes/mangas/etc by fans of this work. A Disclaimer is included as standard, stating in some way or another that they do not own the characters they are writing about.
Some authors (e.g. J.K. Rowling) have encouraged fanfics on the grounds that publishing is not attempted (this will always result in a law suit, something the authors of fanfics have generally accepted). However, other authors (e.g. Anne Rice) have requested that fanfics based around their stories(etc) are not posted on fanfiction sites. These such authors are more commonly known as Kill Joys (see bitching).

A fanfic is another way to say fanfiction. Fanfiction is a fanmade story using characters/plot/places from other things (Books, TV shows, anime, video games, etc.). Some fanfics are decent, others are good, and most totally rape the living shit out of the original author's work.
Many people love fanfiction. Others hate the thought of it.
