Among the various shades of meaning, it commonly signifies speaking on a subject with a pretense of authority, when in reality the speaker is simply inventing, or "bullshitting." It can also mean "sweet talk" such as when a guy is "talking trash" to a girl, saying nothing of substance, for the purpose of socializing. Although these uses are largely Spanish and Pocho slang, "chamuyo" appears to be making inroads into English slang.

Origin: Spanish, from Rioplatense Spanish, derived from lunfardo (Argentinian slang).

Definition: A word in Spanish that describes a type of argumentative persuasion characterized by the absence of strong or true arguments, often compensated by the elegance of language used.

Translations:
- In relationships: comparable to "lying" but without the psychological manipulation associated with gaslighting.
- In a romantic or sexual context: comparable to "rizz" when referring to an individual's approach.
