Widely considered one of (if not the) worst console(s) of all time, even surpassing systems like the Sega CD, 32X and 3DO, which each had at least 1 decent game each.

Its most (in)famous games included the Nintendo-licensed Zelda games Faces of Evil/Wand of Gamelon/Zelda's Adventure, along with Hotel Mario.

Interestingly, the CD-i would live on to finally entertain people (in a way) about a decade and a half after its release, when the Youtube Poop fad (which is heavily rooted in the horrendously bad, yet hilarious, Nintendo FMVs).
Notable cd-i game quotes:

"Enough! My ship sails in the morning. I wonder what's for dinner?"

"There is no time, your sword is enough!"

"You DARE bring light into my lair? YOU MUST DIE?!!!"

A way of expressing that someone is sexually attractive. It is often used with irony or playfulness.

Comes from the verb “breed” which is to copulate with intent of bearing children.

For someone to be truly “breedable” they need to be fertile.
Anon: You are looking mighty breedable this fine evening, m’lady.
Stacy: Please don’t say that to me.
Brad: Woh, you look submissive and breedable, Becky.
Becky: Wow, thanks. *sex*

n. Entertainment console by Philips. Pretty much the foundation for those new-fangled multimedia PC thingies that work as a PC, TV, DVD Player, CD Player, etc. Launched in 1992, it never really took off. This was mainly due to the fact that it was so rediculously overpriced. Even now, there's some guy trying to flog them off for £60. Also, there really was no need for something as advanced at the time. It played VCDs (they never took off because there was little advantage over VHS), audio CDs (a very expensive way of doing that) Photo CDs and, of course, CD-Is.

The CD-I is mostly known as a games console, to which it did resort to becoming later on. In comparison with other games consoles of the time, it was far more powerful than the SNES or the Sega Megadrive. The games that were exclusive to the CD-I, however, were lame. For instance, the awful Hotel Mario (Nintendo lent Philips the license).

In my opinion, the Philips CD-I was best for it's version of Lemmings (second only to the Commodore Amiga's) and the heavy, well built mouse.
Dude, I found a Philips CD-I on eBay.

An ill-fated multimedia console from the early 90's, developed by Philips. Known best for harboring some of the worst games ever made, many of which are so bad that they're actually fantastic. "Zelda: Wand of Gamelon" and "Link: Faces of Evil" are the games most people associate with the device.

Also Known by its full name "Compact Disc Interactive", CD-I was a short-lived video disc format introduced by Philips in 1993 that was designed to be played in CD-I players equipped with an optional Digital Video Cartridge. This expansion unit contained a 32 bit RISC processor and 1 MB of RAM to provide MPEG-1 decoding. It was the first digital video format on the consumer market.

It is best known for the infamous Hotel Mario game, or the Legend of Zelda games. These were the only Nintendo games that were ever licensed under any other company (Philips). It's lesser known use was for films. Only 20 or so movies made it onto CD-I.
wow, this CD-I movie looks so clear... for the 90's anyway.
