(So called because some evangelists literally thump their Bibles to emphasize important parts of a sermon.)

A person whose religious beliefs include strict adherence to the Bible. He is likely to deliver angry sermons to anyone who believes differently, even if that "difference" means belonging to a church that disagrees with his interpretation of Scriptures.

DeeDee's co-workers called her a Bible-thumper after she tacked gospel tracts onto the office bulletin board.

Bible-thumper 

A person who generally adheres strictly to the Bible, Scripture, or New Testament. Usually found in Southern states, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, etc., etc.... Bible-Thumpers usually allow themselves to be seen as "God-fearing" Christians, but once they're behind closed doors will talk trash about everyone in their neighborhood. They usually try to shove their beliefs down everyones' throats and hate people who are different (Gays, Jews, Wiccans, etc., etc...).

STAY CLEAR OF THEM. POINT BLANK.

"Hey, I'm going over to Sally's today."
"Oh? I hear her parents are Bible-Thumpers."
"Really? That explains a lot..."
"Watch out. The minute they start preaching about how you're always committing a sin, and that if you don't get saved soon you'll burn in hell, get the fuck out of there."

Bible Thumper (noun) (1)used to describe an individual who believes in the absolute word for word truth of the bible to the absolute exclusion of all other philosophical, spiritual, esoteric and religious belief systems. (2)Person who has been irretrievably brainwashed into believing that the bible is true in every word despite considerable evidence that it is based on the Sumerian Tablets and Vedas but altered heavily so it appears 'godly' and 'creationy'. Refuses to acknowledge that the bible was considerably altered by Emperor Constantine and the Council of Niscea around 500AD.
Bible Thumpers (plural) Term laterally applied to all extreme right wing christian groups who use the bible as a basis upon which to justify extreme acts of hate or violence (Westboro Baptist Church comes under this heading)

One who uses the Bible to attack/defame others' characters instead of as a guide to proper living. These people tend to be depressingly ignorant of anything else except the Bible and behavior as expected by the religious.

That Bible Thumper makes me so sick! Every day, he stands on my porch shouting about how I'm doomed to a flaming eternity in Hell just because I watch Crank Yankers and South Park!
