n. A drinking game in which players attempt to throw ping pong balls across a table into an opponent's half-filled cups of beer. Players are required to drink the beer from any of their cups into which the opponent throws a ball. The first player to hit all their opponent's cups wins. The loser is required to drink whatever beer is left on the table (in opponent's cups). For sanitary reasons a cup of water is kept at either end of the table to wash the balls off after each throw, but if you've ever played you know it doesn't really help.

Note: Table size, number of players/cups, and house rules concerning bounces, misses, and crossovers vary depending on the college/fraternity/drinking club involved.

Beer Pong is a drinking game that originates from Beirut, Lebanon. It was invented in the 1980's on a regular ping pong table, although beer pong does not necessarily need to be played on a ping pong table, but a table long enough to have a distance of 6 feet or more between the sets of cups.

The traditional style is a pyramid-scheme of 10 cups on each side, filling them with 2-3 12oz beers, with each side having a water cup to wash the balls. The game is usually played with 4 people although you can also play singles.

The object of the game is to toss a ping pong ball into your opponents cup, and if done so they must drink. There are many different varieties of beer pong, one of the most famous is shown in the movie Beerfest, called Paddle Pong, played with one cup and ping pong paddles.

I just spent 100$ creating my own beer pong table, it has a remote control that drops the table down from the ceiling which triggers spotlights and techno music.

Addition: This definition of beer pong is technicaally Beirut, but the orginal version of beer pong is so widely unplayed that the name is now a synonym for Beirut, especially in the South and at public universities.

Everyone is a fucking idiot if they are to think that Beer pong is the previous description. Bei ruit is the game that is being described. The game is played with 20 cups, not 12. There are 10 on each side shaped in a pyramid. The point faces the opponenent. Beer pong is a game that is much related to ping pong (notice the words being the same). It involves 2 cups on each side and a whole bunch of crazy rules that I dont understand.

The mistaken name of beer pong is derived from several unfortunate instances in which men from these areas attempted to say "beirut" while holding a penis in their mouth, resulting in a mumbled word resembling "beer pong." Unfortunately, these instances seem to continue to occur even to this day, resulting in a nearly nation-wide misconception that the game beirut is actually called beer pong."

beer pong simply just depends where you are from and where the people you party with are from. playing with ping pong paddles and ping pong balls was the way it was intended to be played. but how many people do you know that randomly have ping pong paddles without a ping pong table? lets face it, not many play on a ping pong table anymore. any table or dresser would do. most rules honestly depend on where and who you play with. no one's version is wrong or right. who gives a fuck just play, have a good time, and respect who ever's house your playing at. most kids now a days play with cups (usually ten) for each team, set up in a pyramid shape. ping pong balls or aluminum foil if you are in a pinch are tossed into your opponents cups. if you sink it, they drink it. again, depends on the rules and way you are playing
