androgyny

androgyny is the physical and/or psychological state of being neither clearly male nor clearly female. it can also be used to describe some atypical combination of male and female characteristics.

if a genetic male is androgynous he will seem to possess more typically female traits, and a genetic female more typically male traits.

this can be unintentional, however, such as a boy or girl who simply has a naturally androgynous appearance, or as a result of an intersexed condition.

it is more typically a conscious decision, though, either as part of a subcultural fashion, or, for those who do not identify with any specific gender, in order to align the mind with their physical appearance. a lot of bisexual and pansexual people cultivate an androgynous appearance in order to be sexually attractive to people of any gender or sexuality.

in regards to fashion, androgyny seems to be growing in popularity amongst the younger generations, especially prevalent within the goth and alternative scenes, where effeminate androgynous males are common. this is a direct response to the masculine alpha male stereotype which is strongly rejected by a large section of the goth/alternative crowd.
androgyny is cool as hell, i love girly-looking boys and boyish tomboy girls. i'm so so sick of all these alpha male retards. let's evolve people!

Political Androgyny

the feeling one gets when a citizen of a nation can not tell any real or significant difference between various political parties and their candidates; that they must by necessity choose from each election. each of the parties may wear different make up and masks and clothes but for all intents and purposes it is the same actor. every year the same old thing but coming from "the other side" and nothing ever changing.
the feeling you get from "Political Androgyny" is like the feeling a "john" gets while trying to pick the female hookers from the drag-queen hookers while driving down a poorly lit back ally. you know that either way you are going to get fucked. but it is hard to tell if it is going to be one of those stories you tell your friends at the bar or one of those stories your friends find out and tell everyone about you.
-or like looking on craigslist for a quick bit of tail. what an add says is never quite what you get but you can pretty well bet you will end up with crabs.
-for example the term, "Obamnay" has been coined.... who supports what? hell even they don't know most of the time... who sent in the last biggest campaign contribution....

Law of Androgyny

When a feminist or masculinist argument is rendered moot because it applies equally to both genders.

Practically applied by replacing the gender terms in an argument with their antonyms, i.e., if, in a piece of writing, you can reasonably replace the words 'women, female, maternal etc' with 'men, males, paternal etc' (or visa versa) without significantly altering your contention; then it's not appropriate to argue your point from a feminist/masculinist perspective.
1. You can't use "women are pressured in to having children because their parents want grandchildren" as a feminist argument, it doesn't pass the Law of Androgyny test; that point would still be valid if you replaced 'women' with 'men.'

2. You can't use "men are pressured in to having children because their parents want grandchildren" as a masculinist argument, it doesn't pass the Law of Androgyny test; that point would still be valid if you replaced 'men' with 'women.'

Your progeny is androgyny

When you absolutely need to blast someone to the shadow realm.
"Do you know where Billy is?"

"No I've slowly been forgetting about his existence ever since Tom eviscerated him by saying "Your progeny is androgyny"

androgynous

Having both male and female characteristics( appearance )that it becomes a challenge for one to decipher what sex that person is.
Shane from "The L word" is androgynous, though she is a girl she usually dresses "like a guy" and is mistaken at times for a guy.

Androgyne

Traditionally, this word is defined as another word for an androgynous person, or a person with intersex genitalia. Androgyne is also a word for a non-binary gender identity that exists in the rough middle of the gender spectrum between "male" and "female" presentation and identity. Androgyne people often seek to wear androgynous types of clothes to reflect their gender. Not all Androgyne people dress this way, but it is the trend. Neutral pronouns are usually used by these people, but it is not always the case.

Androgyne is the "neither" as well as the "both" when it comes to gender identities, as to say, it is both equally feminine and masculine, while being neither of them at the same time. If the color red was the most masculine , and the color blue was the most feminine, Androgyne would be light purple. Not a perfect mix of red and blue, but there are elements of both present, while there is a third element presence that holds no heraldry to masculinity or femininity (i.e., the color white, representing "non-binary gender", making it a light purple). Roughly less than 0.1% of the current US population identify this way, but that's still a lot of people (this is a rough estimate made after observing "Transgender Population Size in the United States: a Meta-Regression of Population-Based Probability Samples" by Esther L. Meerwijk, PhD corresponding author, and Jae M. Sevelius, PhD).
Max is an androgyne person, and they prefer neutral pronouns. | Androgyne folks are pretty neat; a lot of them seem to challenge traditional concepts of gender with their fashion choices by blending typically "male" and "female" fashions together to create something new. | There are a lot of non-binary gender identities out there, androgyne being one example.
