When you give someone an opportunity or am inch they take it out of proportion and take advantage leading to taking a mile.

Person 1: I let my boyfriend talk to females jut as friends but now he’s taking that as an advantage into flirting with other girls.
Person 2: that’s why you can never be too sure about that , you give them an inch they take a mile
