Stourney

adjective.
1. A type of journey that is, or was, difficult and full of struggles.

2. What tends to occur when someone attempts to teach their self something new, without any formal instruction, and it proves to be difficult and tiring.
Why would one want to say "it was not only a journey, but a struggle as well", when you can knock it out in one word: it sure was a stourney.
