A religion with many definitions. No one person can truly tell you what Satanism is as a whole. What CAN be told though, is that Satanism is devided into many different fragments. Some people believe in Satan as a symbol of independence and freedom. This is called being a Symbolic Satanist. Where you believe in Satan as a Symbol for things greater then mortality and every day life and not as a real icon to be worshiped. Theistic Satanism (often reffered to as Luciferianism or more comonly Traditional Satanism) is a religion introduced by a man called Anton Szandor LaVey. I myself am a Theistic Satanist (you will prolly all vote thumbs down on this definition or hate me because I said that). Theistic Satanism is where you believe in Satan as an icon to be worshiped. Theistic Satanism is the opposite of Catholisicm but does not always include animal or child sacrifice, or drug use. I do not agree with sacrificing any living creature to worship an icon, and I myself do not do hard drugs for meditation purposes, however have done minor drugs to increase the power of meditation. But basically where Catholics have the "Holy Trinity" consisting of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (which all happen to be the same person), Theistic Satanists/Traditional Satanists/Luciferians have Satan (Representing element of Fire), Lucifer (Representing element of Air), Belial (Representing element of Earth), and Leviathan (Representing element of Water). Satanism is ideological bullshit. There are two types of Satanism which are both equally bullshit:
Atheistic Satanism: Comprised of edgy atheists who ignorantly think their inherently selfish ideology is superior to all other ideologies. This form of Satanism teaches that one should worship themselves and give in to all carnal pleasures. LaVeyan Satanism is this type of Satanism which also teaches its adherents to believe in superstitious magic in the seventh rule of of its "11 Satanic Rules" that they teach.
The eighth rule declares that they shouldn't complain or cry over things "they needn't subject themselves to" like definitions such as this one. Yet like hypocrites, these atheist Satanists are constantly found on social media crying about Christianity which has no impact on their life and does more beneficial things for humanity than their ideology which in the 1st rule tells them not to preach their foolish opinions (like they do everywhere) "unless asked" and in the 11th, tells them to "destroy" anyone who bothers them.
All atheistic Satanists will also get triggered over people claiming they worship Satan despite the name of their cult originating from exactly that. Worship of the devil. Atheistic Satan Churches function similar to Scientology in that regular donations are required to ascend with ex-members being subjected to harassment and witch hunts by current members as LaVey's own daughter testified to when she left the Church of Satan.

The second form of Satanism is Theistic Satanism like The Order of Nine Angels which does worship the devil, operates in secrecy and allegedly practice human sacrifices by their own claims. The one thing it has in common with atheistic Satanism is that it also teaches one to give into their addictions and carnal lusts.
All forms of Satanism are bullshit and are mere cults. Atheistic Satanism is just an extension of atheist stupidity and rebellion against religion while Theistic Satanism is comprised of those who genuinely worship and believe in the Devil.

As a short description of each:
The most readily-recognised of these is reverse christianity. This refers to those who espouse vice rather than virtue and act in all ways to perform 'evil'. However, it is also the minority.
After that, LaVeyan satanism is the next most easily recognised. LaVeyan satanism is an ethical egoist organisation (that is, it supports the idea that the individual should serve themselves). It also contains a sense of pantheism, in that it holds that all people are connected to power and can use it to perform magic. It is based on the satanic laws of the earth, and was founded by LaVey.
Luciferianism is the veneration of Lucifer as a positive role. It derives from Gnosticism (a christian sect which believed that God was pure wisdom, and we should seek this wisdom), some members of which decided that God could not possibly be wise and that it was Lucifer who should be venerated, as a positive, wisdom-bringing deity.
Sat/Tanism is more obscure. The name is a pun on "being and becoming", and is a combination of self-venerating practices and earth magic ultimately aimed at apotheosis (becoming a god).
Setianism is a mystery cult (a religion in which one is initiated into higher and higher levels, a little like freemasonry), based around the veneration of Set, from the Egyptian pantheon.
Finally, Symbolic satanism is a catch-all term for anti-theistic or self-venerating practices, often involving magic.

A group of people whom are the 'opposite' to Christians. They do not, in fact, worship 'Lucifer', 'Satan', of 'the Devil'. The words 'Satan' is meant as another word for 'me' or 'myself'...As is 'Hail Satan'='Hail me'. They belive that in fact, that the human being is a power all in itself and yet is nothing more than another form of animal.
True Satanic people do not participate in animal/human sacrifices, mass sexual orgies, or child raping/molesting. (Unlike those Catholic priests out there...)

A religion based on indulgance rather than chastity, services include men dressed in long black robes and women dressing seductivly or nude. Does not promote multiple sexual relationships but does not chasty them if it fullfills the desires of the individual.
