Repression

To avoide doing or even thinking about something you want to do very much. The main reason for not doing it is fear of guilt or losing the respect from a parent or peer. In fact, you make yourself believe that you really don't even want to do the thing you are repressing.
Shasha: "Cindy, do you want to go clubbing and get wasted? Maybe we will pick up some guys."

Cindy:" No, my mom won't approve and dancing and guys shouldn't be appealing to me anyway. I think I will stay home, knit and drink water. Yeah! that sounds much more fun!"

Shasha (to self) : "She has repression bad"

Repression

Not acknowledging negative feelings is true repression. Not allowing other people to acknowledge theirs because you don't acknowledge yours is the worst kind of repression/oppression.

Emotional repression

Refusing to acknowledge negative feelings, any feelings that might make you look bad or get negative attention instead of the attention you want.
Her emotional repression was oppressive to everyone else around her.

Emotional repression

Emotional repression is a way females try and come off as tough, badass, and charming without coming off as weak. Females who think that kindness is weakness tend to think that emotional repression is the way to go.
The girl child had now mastered emotional repression and was sure that people would quit being mean to her in her new tough, badass, and charming facade.

sexual repression

When a person cannot express their sexuality, usually due to societal expectations.
The Bible Thumping Belt is such a place of sexual repression. They're a bunch of abstinence loving, contraceptive hating, sex toy despising, missionary doing, homophobic freaks if you ask me.
