/prēˈshit(ə)rē/ noun. 1) The period of time before shit. 2) the events or conditions leading up to shit. 3) A nostalgic reference to a "Golden Age" or period of time before everything went to shit.

1) Archaeologists determined that large amounts of coffee were consumed in preshitory.
