Pedestalology

Pedestalology (noun)

Pedestalology is the study or practice of placing a person—typically a romantic interest—on an exaggerated level of admiration or idealization, often overlooking their flaws and elevating their perceived value above one’s own.
It explores the psychology and behavior behind “putting someone on a pedestal,” including why individuals do it, how it affects relationships, and the imbalance it can create. Pedestalology also examines patterns like overvaluing another person’s approval, ignoring red flags, and deriving self-worth from someone else’s validation.
