What happens when two people are walking towards each other on a pavement, but both try to go the same way to dodge each other. That is, one sidesteps to their own right and one sidesteps to their own left. Sometimes the move is repeated immediately after, with the dancers sidestepping in the opposite direction.

Adele said this misinterpretation in urbandictionary caused the song to be banned by several United States radio stations. The song was refers an incident that occurred after a Adele had a fight with a former boyfriend and she was running around the streets at 6AM aimlessly and she thought to herself what you are doing is chasing pavements(sidewalks in U.S.A.)
