Noetic Appropriation

The extraction, replication, reframing, or claiming of another person's knowledge, insight, creative intelligence, symbolic language, or intellectual contribution without meaningful acknowledgment, consent, attribution, or reciprocity. The concept may include ordinary intellectual appropriation as well as experiences interpreted through telepathic, energetic, intuitive, spiritual, or other nonordinary models of information exchange.

The term derives from noetic, relating to knowledge, intellect, consciousness, or the apprehension of meaning.
Noetic appropriation is fundamentally about who gets recognized as the source of knowing.

Noetic appropriation could encompass things that may not qualify as legally protected intellectual property, such as:

an original framework, terminology, worldview, methodology, insight, pattern recognition, artistic concept, spiritual teaching, or conceptual invention.

That makes the term particularly useful for describing the ethical dimension of intellectual extraction.
