It surpasses its American neighbor, Niagara Falls, New York due to a more vibrant tourism industry which was largely built up in the 1990s, and a stronger economy. It falls behind its Canadian neighbor, which has a much stronger economy and a vibrant tourism industry.

Niagara Falls, NY is a shithole that for some reason everyone loves to call home. people that live there rarely actually go to the falls unless they work there. home of jonny flynn and paul harris. you haven't had a steak and cheese sub til you've been to viola's. collosso taco is a staple. third streets crazy.

Niagara Falls, ON, Canada: Slightly better than Niagara Falls, New York, but still a shithole, despite what people think. Due to the tourism many are deluded into thinking that Niagara Falls is a clean, thriving city. This is primarily due to the upkeep of the tourist section of it, however, one only has to go up a couple blocks from the main tourist area to be in the dirtiest, grimiest part of town.

Do not confuse Niagara Falls, New York for Niagara Falls, Ontario. Niagara Falls, NY is a hole. Niagara Falls, ON is beautiful. Then again, most Americans have yet to actually visit the real Niagara Falls.
Only thing Niagara Falls, NY is good for is cheap gas. Even the whores in Niagara Falls, ON are better.

This only applies to the NY side. A crappy city in Western New York that lost half its population between 1970 and now. A place of high crime, dead celebrities, abandoned houses, and corrupt politicians. Basically, everything here is good until the government takes interest in it. The last mayor of Niagara Falls (speaking of which, they haven't re-elected a mayor in about 25 years) was just indicted. The main attractions on our side of the gorge are: abandoned factories, smelly toxic waste dumps, and Indian restaurants. Niagara Falls, Ontario is the opposite. Niagara Falls' nickname is no longer "The Honeymoon Capital of the World", it is now "Dyster's Dystopia", named for our mayor who will likely be the fifth one-term mayor of Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls, Ontario is the opposite.
