Mukemne

Mukemne is a portmanteau of the Swahili words for man (mwanaume) and woman (mwanamke) to describe a black person whose lived experience is characterized by the same gender loving identity and gender nonconforming expression. It is both singular and plural as well as masculine and feminine.

“Is that a man or a woman?”
“They are Mukemne”

“There will be room full of Mukemne at the next social event.”
