Metric Intoxication

A compulsive high from watching your likes, reposts, and quote counts climb, where the numbers start to matter more than being right, truthful, or useful. It often begins with an unexpected spike, like a celebrity reply, then turns into a chase for the next hit. In its advanced stage, the sufferer refuses to back down even when corrected by everyone, because the pile-on keeps the numbers rising.

Also called Engagement Euphoria Syndrome (EES).
