Maximum Mythological Proximity Project

The Maximum Mythological Proximity Project (commonly known in the fandom as the MMPP or AA:MMP) is the holy grail of absolute historical accuracy and scholarly gatekeeping within worldbuilding. It is a specialized sub-framework that pushes a fictional setting to the absolute theoretical extreme of Level 8 Proximity, meaning that mythology isn’t just decorative flavor text or character inspiration—mythology is the literal architecture of reality.
The MMPP is a massive middle finger to lazy pop-culture media that sanitizes ancient religions. Instead of treating pantheons like the Anunnaki, Netjeru, or Theoi as Marvel-style aliens or basic elemental cartoon characters, the project digs into 4,000-year-old cuneiform tablets and historical codices. It treats gods as complex "Divine Civilizations" possessing social classes, political rivalries, and institutional blind spots. Under this framework, gods are dynamic entities that possess a Core Frequency of a natural phenomenon, which human cultures interpret through a "Cultural Instrument" to create myths.
It brilliantly balances The Great Syncretism without erasing historical diversity, establishing that while different cultures might resonate with the exact same cosmic frequency, their unique rituals are distinct. It turns worldbuilding into a polycentric comparative mythology experiment where gods aren't omniscient, the supernatural is just unmapped natural science, and reality is always larger than any civilization's explanation of it.

"I was worried that adding the Norse and Egyptian factions would turn the Abzuverse into a messy mythology soup."
"Nah, don't worry. The creators are using the Maximum Mythological Proximity Project framework. They are literally reading real translations of the Enuma Elish just to map out the divine frequency resonance."
