Idiot's Gambit

A counterargument strategy often used as an attempt to argue against a claim backed by data by suggesting, without evidence, that the source of the data can't be trusted, often seen in social media arguments.
Person 1: "Give me one good reason not to stick this fork in that outlet"
Person 2: "Because the CDC reports a 94% death rate for people who do"
Person 1: "The CDC is part of the government and you can't trust the government"
Person 1: "Ah. I see you have chosen' the Idiot's Gambit. Then proceed. It's probably for the best"
