A state of undesirable emotions or feeling out-of-sorts. These feelings may include but are not limited to: sadness, boredom that is unusually difficult to curb, laziness, unworthiness, and an overall feeling of malaise. The reasons for being in a "funk" usually remain unknown by the victim while others may know exactly why they are in a "funk" and just have a difficult time getting rid of it. A funk may last a few hours or up to several weeks at a time.
John: Hey man, you want to go out to the bars tonight and get fucked up??!!!
Mike: No man. I'm not in the mood tonight. I'll probably just watch TV and go to bed.
John: Damn dude, that's the second weekend in a row! Sounds to me like you're in a funk.

An unfriendly altercation in the Bay Area. Funk means a problem is going to occur momentarily because two opposing groups have just arrived at the same location. In Hawaii they call it beef. In the Bay Area, it's funk.
"There's about to be some funk up in here bro. Some drunk ass fools just walked in talkin' all kinds trash about Jr."
"I hope I don't see JR this time. I've got mad funk with that fool."
"You got some funk?! Bitch!"
"Them boys are funkin' all the time!"

Living creature that is the size of a medicine ball, but covered in teets. Landed on Bootsy Collin's house. You can milk the funk. Lets you see around corners.

A style of music emerging in the late 1960's blending soul, jazz and R&B, mostly played by African Americans at the time.
These days, most people mistake bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine to be funk bands, when they are actually funk METAL bands. There is a lot of difference. These bands simply take the base styles and drum styles used in funk and incorporate them into metal.
REAL funk artists use pretty much the same lineup as a jazz group, which includes saxophones, trumpets, trombones, keyboards/pianos, drums, bass and sometimes guitar.
Examples of real funk artists are:
Herbie Hancock
James Brown
Stevie Wonder
