Comes from a way of describing hot dogs on a bun. Hotdogs are pretty tasty and we all know eating tasty things are fun to do. Thus you get fun on a bun. Generally used as a compliment.

Synonymous with fun on a bun , It's essentially a better way of saying something will totally kick ass. Used to describe occasions in which your run-of-the-mill phrases describing how much fun something is gonna be just can't aptly describe the amount funs that will be in your buns.
