Context collapse

noun. The mental and physical exhaustion that hits after a long session of working with AI Agents. The AI has a context window of hundreds of thousands of tokens; you do not. After hours of prompting, reading output, catching mistakes, re-explaining the requirements for the fourth time, and keeping track of what the AI changed in which file, your own working memory fills up and quietly shuts down.

Symptoms include rereading the same diff three times without absorbing it, forgetting what you originally asked for, approving changes with "looks fine I guess," and typing prompts like "no, the OTHER thing." Often accompanied by stiff shoulders, dry eyes, and a strong urge to lie on the floor.
"Can you review my PR?"
"Not today. I spent six hours pairing with Claude on the migration scripts and I'm in full context collapse. I just tried to Ctrl+Z a conversation with my wife."

"The whole team hit context collapse around 3 p.m. Someone suggested we start a new session, and the PO thought they meant going home."

Related forms:

Context-collapsed (adj.): In a state of context collapse. "Don't ask Ole anything, he's context-collapsed."
Compacting (v.): Taking a walk, getting coffee, or staring out the window to free up mental space, named after the AI's own trick of summarizing a long conversation to make room.
Fresh session (n.): A good night's sleep.

trucker's tan

A sunburn or suntan focused on the left arm. It is caused by the left side of the body being the only half that gets exposed to sunlight while driving. Presumably, it would be located on the right side of the body in countries where they drive on the left side of the road.

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”

Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
According to the boffins downstairs, the murderer used a serrated blade.

Pee Calculus

When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
I saw Satantango last night, wonderful film but by the 5th hour I had to start doing pee calculus.
