An "Airplanista" is a person that is very much into aviation, airplanes and being a pilot. While not all Airplanistas are pilots, all pilots are Airplanistas. The Airplanista eats, sleeps, talks and lives aviation and airplanes 24/7, hangs out at mostly small municipal airports with other Airplanistas, and his/her world stops momentarily when an airplane flies by overhead as he/she MUST stare out it in complete wonder at the magic that is flight. The term #Avgeek is closely related to Airplanista - an Avgeek is usually an Airplanista who is also very much into tech either by interest or as a career. Both Airplanistas and Avgeeks generally follow the same people on social media, read the same aviation news site, attend the same airshows such as EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and belong to the same advocacy groups such as NBAA, AOPA, EAA and HAI.
