It is constructed from the prefix "Afi-", derived from Africa, and the suffix "-gent", mirroring the structure of similar words like "gentile". The word is intended for use in contexts where a neutral, non-derogatory identifier is needed to denote cultural or ethnic distinctions without any connotations of exclusion or otherness.
