1736

1736 was a leap year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar. It oversaw George Hamilton, 1st Earl of Orkney becoming the Second Field Marshal of Great Britain. The Russo-Turkish war, completion of the Belgrade Fortress, and Benjamin Franklin building the first volunteer fire company in Philadelphia.
1736 was essentially a filler year, however.
