His controversy led to a decline of vaccines in the United States, The United Kingdom and Ireland which had caused the rise of measles and mumps causing in many illnesses deaths. Wakefield has a history of mistreating developmentally delayed children and being dishonest in his research.

Wakefield was born in Eton, Berkshire, England then moved to Austin, Texas.
