The State of being so overtly owned, that saying owned or pwned just doesn't fit and isn't extreme enough.
The word can be used in various ways, as expressed in the examples.

a term used to describe politicians (primarily Republicans) who accept campaign contributions from big corporations and then serve those corporations instead of the people

Corporate owned politicians typically oppose any efforts to regulate or tax business, they are against labor unions, and support unfair trade policies that make it easier for big corporations to move jobs overseas to exploit cheap labor in third world countries.

The general feel in todays society that everything is somehow copyrighted or property of someone else to the point where it hinders creativity and makes it much more difficult to innovate. It is also the belief that just because you created/thought of something that you should have complete and total control over every aspect of that thing, object or idea.

Apple not allowing iPhone unlocking - this is a culture of ownership.

The term describes something that is exceptional, or awesome. It is derived from "pwn" which is ultimate nerd internet ownage. To own ponies is to do something amazing or be amazing.

The reverse of this, sucking, is to "blow ponies".

"She let me get to third base on the first date! Third base totally owns ponies!"
