This originates from the days of the gold standard when "cash money" meant gold or silver, which holds intrinsic value as opposed to paper currency. Cash Snatching

The act of an individual or group of individuals that engage in placing dirty dollar bills on his or her face or between the teeth for the intent of a stripper (the snatchee) or "dancer" to collect with her body. Typically this act is performed while the individual or "team" is laying face up on the unsanitary stage. Shots are typically the catalyst for this act.
