ERS, or Energy Recover System, is a system of several components used most commonly in FIA Formula 1 racing. Through the use of an MGU-H, which turn heat and rotational energy from the engine turbo into electrical energy stored in the battery, and an MGU-K which turn energy from braking inter electrical energy to be stored and used by the same component to apply additional torque allowing for greater acceleration. This system along with DRS has played a key role in the evolution of Formula 1 overtaking strategy and is typically used in conjunction the possible to execute overtakes, underpasses, and when coming out of tighter corners.
