When someone really don't want you to go with them but they offer anyways knowing you absolutely cannot go ,that's an empty invitation and it makes them feel good cuz at least they offered.

glass invitation

An insincere invitation. And invitation that the sender gives out of social obligation but hopes the receiver does not act on.
“Yeah Will invited me to his New Year’s party, but I know it was a glass invitation so I won’t be going. He only invited me because someone mentioned the party in front of me.”

An invitation

He should have to do what I say! He should have to be anointed by the priestess! He should have to live in servitude to piece of shit parents who think they are better than him! How should have to care about our fuck trophies regardless of the effect we have on his life!
Hym "An invitation? They SHOULD have told me they were bringing women to fucking that MENTALLY RETARDED PIECE OF SHIT. THAT is what SHOULD have happened! You SHOULD have done what I told you. You SHOULD do what I'm telling you to do now. You SHOULD care that this is happening to people. She SHOULD have to say no to the retard. I SHOULD have done WORSE to that retard and the whore than I did. But what you SHOULDN'T be doing is trying to leverage my situation to get me to do you bullshit self help. A lot of things should be."

Circumstantial invite

When someone is invited to something on an underlying circumstance. Meaning the person additionally invited was not originally invited. Could also be considered a “pity invite.” Is usually close to last minute and aimed at lessening the cost of the trip for people already going. Always decline the invites as a sign of asserting dominance—if you weren’t originally invited then your presence isn’t truly desired.
“Do you want to go to the beach house with all of us next weekend? Two of the eight people backed out, so we have two extra spots”

“Idk man, sounds like a circumstantial invite.”
