Get the mispellaneous mug.Missuasion
There is one hit on a Reddit Bernie Sanders forum (“Cult-like powers of missuasion”, 21 June 2017, describing another politician).
The OED enters the verb mis-suade, labeled as “obsolete, rare.” Google Books finds examples including two from the same Scottish writer from the early 20th century:
Herein is the hidden reef of literary psychology, and even so great a critic as M. Taine is occasionally missuaded by semblances which he takes for actualities.
William Sharp, in introduction to Charles Augustin Sainte-Beuve, On Man and Women, 1901
Though possessive above all others of that science of the percipient in the allied arts of painting and music, wherein he found the unconventional Shelley so missuaded by convention, he seemed ever more alert to the substance than to the manner of poetry.
William Sharp, in introduction to Life of Robert Browning, 1897
There is also the word dissuasion, with a meaning (“the act of dissuading” à dissuade: “to advise (a person) against something”) slightly different from missuasion
A useful and relevant word since its meaning is easily deducible from its parts (mis- as in misinformation + suade from persuade).
