The word comes from the assumption made by non-furries that all furries are anything but straight and only enjoy having sex with one another while dressed as an animal, however this assumption is mostly untrue. The word "furfag" is also mainly used incorrectly, as its used towards some furries who are straight and some who don't even consider themselves as a total part of the fandom.

They even use it when chatting with one another, jokingly of course. When they do this, the term means "gay furry" or "furry trash"(usually non-sexual/non-literal), which they are not afraid to admit that they are. They call things like this turn of meanings of the word "furry pride", a large part of their fandom that keeps it together through all the hate they receive~
