yaoi

A Japanese acronym for YAma nashi, Ochi nashi, Imi nashi, which means, roughly, "No peak, no point, no meaning". It is a term used to describe purely sex-focused manga or anime. It is often used incorrectly as a blanket term to cover yaoi, shounen ai, tanbi, shota, and BL, as well as being (again, incorrectly) used as a synonym for gay.

That vendor was selling what was labelled as yaoi, but it was mostly BL.

Fictional homosexual pairings, usually somehow related to Japanese culture. A.k.a. drawings and stories of male characters giving each other head and fucking each other in the ass. Even though the content is adult, explicit, gay male sex, pretty much the only people who create or appreciate yaoi are straight female children. Don't ask me why.

mostly used in reference to anime comics.
Yaoi is also known as Shonen-ai.

contrary to what most of the idiots who post on this site have said, yaoi is not 'gay porn', and is not 'usually rated x or higher.' yaoi is a japanese word, and it is, essentially, gays doing gay stuff. it CAN be "gay porn", but is not always. it can be simply two boys, usually anime boys, hugging or sitting with their arms around eachother. or kissing, or...sex.
teh female equivalent is yaoi.

Person 1: hey wanna do some live action yaoi?
person 2: perv.
