Due to the shifts in the cultural and political arenas, the late 1970's/early 1980's was a thriving time for the Latino community in the Northeast region of the United States. Activism on college campuses was common ground. For example, only five years prior, Rutgers College opened its doors to women. As the campus' Latino population increased , it became evident that the quality of student life for Latinos was not equal to their White and Black counterparts. Furthermore, the funding for Latino groups and activities was also non-existent. Realizing a change needed to be made, Corazones Unidos Siempre/Chi Upsilon Sigma Sorority, Inc. emerged. Chi Upsilon Sigma (C.U.S.) has been in existence since April 29, 1980. Established on the New Brunswick Campus of Rutgers – the State University of New Jersey, C.U.S. was officially voted into the Greek council on March 11, 1981. Our founders are 7 Latinas who had the desire to create an organization to promote leadership among the Latino community. More importantly, it was their desire to create a sisterhood – a place away from home in which the members could feel the strong sense of family, which is such a force in the Latino culture.
When a CUSSIE walks in the room, you know that she is there. She is not afraid to voice her opinion, not afraid to be different, not afraid to "OD".

Get the Sigma Nu mug.Tau Beta Sigma is a co-ed national service sorority dedicated to serving collegiate marching bands and promoting women in music. Founded in 1946 by Wava Baines, Tau Beta Sigma grew out of a desire of the women at Texas Tech University to serve as part of the fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi. However, World War II prevented the men of KKPsi to convene and vote on allowing women in the fraternity, so the lovely Texas Tech women set out on founding their own organzation.

Get the Tau Beta Sigma mug.The Sigma Kappa Sorority back then, in the early 1900's, was only for the wealthy, skinny, and so called perfect girls the frat boys were notorious of. If a frat boy thought of the perfect, mostly blonde, sorority girl, they thought of a Sigma Kappa girl. Today Sigma Kappa isn't as popular as it used to be in the west coast but has conquered schools of the preppy mid-west and east like the University of Kansas, State University of New York at Fredonia, Albright College, University of Michigan, Maryland University, The U at Minnesota, Chico State University (in California) and Pen State. Sigma Kappa's are top-tier at these universities. If you aren't a Sigma Kappa at these schools, you're probably low to mid tier which is good but not great. These sorority girls have class, pretty faces, hot bods, social essence, are popular, service oriented and quite the partiers at these colleges of course. These girls are carry confidence, purity, and the self-evidence that girls will run the world. With grades at an average of 3.5 nationally, these girls have brains and have personalities that will make you get on your knees. Find a Sigma Kappa girl and she'll welcome you to her mystic bond as so will her sisters.
Ben(Frat boy): Did you see those girls at the bar night? They were so perfect I can't get them off my mind bro.
Nick: Oh yea dude I think those girls were Sigma Kappas.

Get the Sigma Kappa mug.Stigmata consists of five classic points where wounds appear: the side, both hands and both feet. Traditionally these are known as the Five Wounds or the Sacred Wounds of our Lord, because they are the marks that occurred at the time of the Crucifixion. Some people are said to suffer the Passion of Christ which includes: the agony at Gethsemane (including the tears or sweating of blood); scourging; the crowning of thorns; beatings; the shoulder sound from carrying the Cross; and the Five Wounds inflicted during the Crucifixion itself.
Intense pain is caused by these wounds, which remains constant throughout the entire course of the stigmatism.
