International rule of Dibs

A basic rule of humanity that separates us from animals. One has the rights to an object just by saying "dibs". Conterary to popular belief, senority is not a counter to the I.R.D. There are different branches of I.R.D. including the rule of shotgun.

Expression used to claim rights/possesion on sth./sb.

A group of (male) friends is at a party to check out some girls. Whoever spots a pretty girl first can "call dibs" on her. That way he can make sure none of his buddies would make a movie on her.

The expression means you're going to be the best or achieve the highest possible result in any given situation. The phrase originated from a player named CrazyPsychopath (Twitch name: Praetor Pyro) in the game Command and Conquer Rivals. The highest league in the game is Tiberium league, thus, to get the "dibs on the tibs" is to say that you're going to either be in Tiberium league first or you're going to get double Tiberium (with both factions) soon, as you're striving to get there.

calling dibs is a slang term that refers to a male "claiming" the rights to pursue a woman. dibs can be called in either a serious or a sarcastic fashion as long as all males in the party are aware of the context.

(after spotting a particularly attractive or unattractive woman) "I'm calling dibs!"
