1. A remark made to show mild sympathy for one's troubles. Commonly used when a user does not feel like they need to/want to make a more complicated response, and would rather opt for a simpler response to show sympathy.
2. A word used to describe (usually in the past tense) an event that was embarrassing, or generally unpleasant to someone in some way.

Out Of Focus. When quick pic taking goes bad, but the pic is pretty good anyway. OOF is like dimmed lighting for over 30s.
