This term originates from, and was commonly used in the partnered Half-Life Discord server when it was available as an emote. Said emote originates from an image of a hyperrealistic Minecraft cow. Now cringecow has been figuratively killed off and replaced with cringebeef which was later removed entirely, rendering cringecow non-existent. Current substitutes for cringecow and cringebeef are the "neutral_face" emoji and the "cow" emoji.
