Alison is a word used to describe a woman of incredible beauty.

It is thought that should someone be teased then then were often getting 'an Alison'. However, these circumstances were usually undertaken with lines of courtship and appropriate behaviour.
In Greek Alison can be traced back to 'li' meaning to be breakable. Common use of Alison was therefore used to describe a woman clumsy in nature or who often fell. It was not insulation for Alison to describe a woman of such intense beauty that she caused others around her to fall and thus Alison was both the fall itself and the cause of the fall.
