trendy

A lot of the entrys for this are funny, but sad.

Seriously looking at rantlike definitions from certain people suggests the people you call "trendies" are complete scum or something. When they really aren't, the lads know how to go out and have a laugh around town without hurting ANYONE and the ladies are fun as well, and not slutty or whatever bitter crap you fling at them.

ok as you can tell I would consider myself part of this "group" myself, my dress seems to conform to a lot of the most thumbs up'ed entrys here, and yeah (I'm female by the way) I wear a lot of makeup and care about apearance and stuff but isn't looking nice a good thing?

Seriously you geeks (yes i will use that word) who bitch about us on the net (Ive searched on google and urbandictionary is not the only place) dont know what you're on about. Just because some guy probably pushed you around when you were 13 doesnt mean the popular streetwise-looking lads at uni and college are going to do the same. Ive seen a lot of trendies approach people who dress "alt" or whatever the term is with an actual interest in what music they like and shit, you know, being FRIENDLY.

And yes. We do listen to mainstream music, I listen to things like the Arctic Monkeys and other British indie stuff, its cool, but when did "mainstream" become a dirty word anyway? if you have literaly millions of people on your side listening to the same stuff how is that a bad thing? do you need to be "underground" to prove you have a personality or what? I've got no time for bitter geeks saying "dubious sexual morals" are bad things either, who the fuck are they to judge anyway? If in your late teens and early 20's you can't have fun in that way then when can you?

To me what you call "trendies" are just normal student people who just wanna have fun and be students. Ive been on the net enough times to know all about "furries" and anime obsession and all that weird shit, and I know what group i'm happy to be in.

Lighten up. Some of you should try talking to "us" or something. OR at the very least do this bitching to a trendies face and not online, cause I had no idea popular people who dressed smart-casual and knew how to have fun were dissed behind the cover of the net. It stinks of bitterness and past bullying from the school rugby lot to me but, whatev.

This definition is a reply back from our perspective.

Peace x
What must happen:

"alt" kid: Look there's some trendy, lets walk past him quietly and avoid eye contact then go on the internet and bitch about their clothes and shit where he can't argue back or express his view.

trendie

erm, kind of difficult to explain.as trendie'ness' is found in all or most of us.I dont think that it is really very fair saying,a person wearing all of the latest 'paul and shark' gear is trendy, yes, they are,but a rocker has also followed a trend thru what they are wearing/listening to,unless they are able to make there own true original style, which,is a bit challenging in this day and age without looking/feeling completely silly.i use the word to describe people who'm wear and listen to,all of the latest, fashionable things.but this isnt really politically correct.most nu-metal fans or,people whom have recently jumped into the rock/alternative scene are,in my eyes, waywaywayway more trendie than somebody whom has always wore the latest fashions, this shows that they are easily influenced by what everyone else is doing, but,i rocker would never admit to being trendy, because it gos against what they believe in (or have been believing in,since they first heard the off-spring in 2003),and therefore, trendy.the person at the bottom of this page,or just above this post has the right idea................i think
easily influenced by your peers.
want to blend in with the masses/or your group of friends.
ooh,i like that trendy t-shirt/hair cut,ill get it my self.

trendy

Trendy males, Somebody who does not feel they need to define themselves with their music taste or fashion sense. They are nothing like Chavs or Towniesas they do not feel a hatred to all other styles (though can't say i am a personal fan of chavs or townies) and are in fact very open minded in this way. Generally middle class and will have a job too fund their way of life. They enjoy being with their friends and/or girlfriends. They are usually mature individuals who are in late education. They have no problem with socialising with any other groups and are usually peaceful people. Everybody is individual and trendys realise this and so do not feel a need to define themselves. Some may be a little too gregarious in believing they are good looking enough to play alont other females but most are just very outgoing individuals. Contrary to popular belief most do not just follow fashions but in fact are able to see if the style will suit them personally before buying. They are up to date on all the latest technology usually as they feel they as much as anyone else need a good way to listen to their music or contact their friends. Usually very vein people as they like to look the best they possibly can do.This is a UK definition not a clue about abroad. :)
Trendy girls, well thats just an entirely different definition, personally i avoid most of them.

trendy

I guess there could be many different definitions when it comes to "trendies", but this is what they basically are at my school:

The first thing you should know when it comes to trendies is that they travel in groups. However, this isn't because they want to seem intimidating or better than everyone else. It's simply because they like having people around them. These groups usually range from 3 to about 15 trendies. They don't hang out with people who aren't like them, but it's not that they're mean to them. They just ignore them. Unfortunately, many people don't like to be ignored, that is why trendies get a bad reputation amongst those that aren't, well, trendies.

Guys: Are always, and I mean always, hot. All trendy guys have at least two girls in "love" with them. Some very lucky ones may have up to 20. They go through at least 10 girlfriends each year, but they usually make out with only one or even none. They listen to music ranging from pop-punk to hard rock, with the very uncommon exception of hip hop. Their report cards usually have about 3 As, 5 Bs, and at least 1 C, if not D or F, and if not more. At school, they're always with a group of other trendy guys. After school, they usually hang out on the curb with a small group of trendy girls, usually 2 to 4.
As for how they look, it's not really hard to recognize them. They wear striped polos, sometimes over a long sleeved shirt, or fall out boy, my chemical romance, or green day t-shirts. (Honestly, those are the only bands.) As for their pants, they are usually tight jeans that fall just slighly over their shoes, that are always faded and sometimes ripped. They may sometimes wear shorts, that reach about an inch above their knees. Their shoes are their trademark. They are almost always skater shoes, DCs and Emericas being the most common. They may sometimes, but VERY rarely, be Vans. These shoes are always black and white, sometimes with the addition of red or dark blue. As for their hair, it usually reaches just below the ears, but is sometimes a bit longer. They ALL, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, know how to skateboard.

Girls: Don't necessarily have to be hot, but guys still like them. Trendy girls usually have only 5 boyfriends each year, but make out with 4, if not all 5 of them. They'll listen to any music ranging from pop-punk to hip-hop. (That includes all pop and r&b.) They aren't much smarter than trendy guys, but their report cards are more often straight As and Bs, with a C sometimes. Ds and Fs are very uncommon.
Their clothes are always branded. Abercrombie, Hollister, and PacSun (Roxy, Billabong, etc.) are the brands they'll usually wear. They love long, vintage tees and tight little sweaters. They wear incredibly tight jeans almost every day. Some of them may roll them up into capris. Just like guys' jeans, theirs are also always faded and sometimes ripped. Skirts are hardly ever worn, but if they are, they are 3 to 6 inches above the knees, and incredibly light and flippy. They are always layered, usually with 2, and sometimes 3 layers, and black or white. Hanging belts may sometimes be attached to the skirt on the hips, natural colors for white and metallic for black. Girls also wear skater shoes, most often black and pink or white DCs. Vans are a bit more common among them than the guys. Hair can be any length from 3 inches below the ears to halfway down the back. Streaks, preferably blond, are also very popular among trendy girls. Most of them CAN'T skateboard.
Trendy Girl: Let's go make out!
Trendy Guy: Nah, I think I'll go out on my skateboard.
