Cultural constitution theory draws on anthropology, cultural studies, and interpretive sociology to argue that even seemingly objective phenomena (like time, space, value) are culturally organized. Different cultures produce different realities, not just different opinions about a single reality.

Cognitive Constitution Theory

A theoretical framework arguing that human cognition—perception, memory, reasoning, categorization—constitutes the world we know. Our cognitive apparatus doesn’t simply mirror an external reality; it actively structures experience through innate frameworks, learned schemas, and embodied capacities. Drawing on cognitive science, neuroscience, and philosophy of mind, this theory posits that what we take as “the world” is always a world-for-us, shaped by the structure of our minds. Different cognitive architectures would produce different realities. This does not imply solipsism but that knowledge is always mediated by the knower’s cognitive constitution.

Reality Constitution Theory

A meta-theoretical framework proposing that reality itself is constituted through practices, frameworks, and systems of meaning. Going beyond social or cultural construction, it argues that even what we consider “physical” or “natural” is accessed and made meaningful only through human frameworks—though it doesn’t deny an extra-discursive reality, it insists that reality-as-we-know-it is always already constituted. This theory synthesizes insights from phenomenology, post-structuralism, and pragmatism to argue that there is no unmediated access to “the real”; every account of reality is a constituted account.

Objectivity Constitution Theory

A critical framework examining how “objectivity” itself is socially, historically, and discursively constituted—not a timeless ideal but a specific set of practices, exclusions, and power relations. Objectivity is produced through particular methods (quantification, peer review, double-blind procedures) and institutional arrangements, and it privileges certain perspectives (usually dominant ones) while marginalizing others. The theory does not reject objectivity as a value but historicizes it, showing that what counts as objective changes over time and serves particular interests. It’s central to feminist epistemology, science studies, and critical legal theory.

U.S. Constitution

The codified constitution that defines and explains the function of government of the United States. It was written in 1787, ratified in 1788, and entered into force in 1789. It has been amended a total of 27 times, and the first ten amendments are the Bill of Rights, which define rights for all citizens of the United States.

The constitution listed out many concepts that have allowed the United States to stand the test of time, and many these concepts have been adopted into other countries constitutions. These include popular sovereignty, separation of powers, individual rights, limited government, checks and balances, and representative democracy.

Along with these concepts, the constitution also defined the limits of the federal government, and the powers that the state government. It should be noted that when the constitution was written, the States of the United States were considered more as countries unified under a federal government, somewhat like the United Kingdom of today. Therefore, the founders took great liberties ensuring a balance between the State government, Federal government, and the people themselves.

*The following is a fictional scenario used to demonstrate the usage of the term: U.S. Constitution. Any reference to a person: living or dead (living being defined as someone living on December 27th, 2020 or thereafter, and dead being those who died prior to this date and time) is purely coincidental (although subconscious thoughts in ones head about names may potentially make it more likely to use a name that is regarded as belonging to a famous person).
