woody is chuffling as he see's people passing walking past , an attempt to warn others of his presence by being a chuffler ,without the annoyance of a full bark that would annoy his keeper.

chuffed out

Chuffed is a Northern word for "happy" really happy. So "Chuffed Out" can literally mean happy beyond comprehension.

It also has a darker meaning: knackered, beyond caring, blown away.

1/ I'd just bought a new Porsche and was completely chuffed out.

2/ We had been in the pub for hours; Dave was the worst for wear, he was completely chuffed out.

A group of posh people. It is a type of onomatopoeia for the sound posh people make when talking to each other. ie "chuff chuff chuff chuff chuff"
