tree shaming

Shaming people who buy trees that are specially grown and cut for Christmas and then disposed.

After years of being subjected to tree shaming, he bought a live potted tree for Christmas and planted it in his yard. Then he got a fine for planting an invasive exotic, which was banned by the tree ordinance.

Know Shaming

''Know Shaming'' is the petty social act of making someone feel smaller or stupid for literally not having known the information someone is telling them. Know shaming can occur in social or academic discourse, but also in interactions around media or celebrity consumption.

A: Have you heard of band XYZ?
B: No I Hav---
A: OMG! How do you not know about them!??!?!? Do you live under a rock?!?!! I knew about them ages ago like before they got popular.... YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THEM.

B: No..
A: What OMG! Do you even read? So basically...
B: This is know shaming. How could I know anything about something before I know it?

Calling out people on social media when they post pics of themselves standing with people closer that 6 feet other than immediate family/SO.

I was Social Shaming a buddy on FB this weekend over his reckless pics posted of multiple social gatherings instead of social distancing.

shade shaming

Shade shaming: mocking, ridiculing, or teasing someone about the amount of melanin in their skin. #shadeshaming

Examples of shade shaming: You're not black enough. You're SO dark!". You need to cover up those freckles!"

or white people, you know you love this one--"you're so PALE! You need some sun!" And of course, there's the infamous "what ARE you"? The only reason to ask a person "what" they are in terms of race is because you're going to form a new opinion of them based upon their answer, which is...you guessed it...a form of #RACISM.
