1. Not all Republicans are filthy rich
2. Not all Republicans are Christian
3. Not all Republicans hate paying taxes

Here's my small view of Republican vs. Democratic ideas:
Julie is coming back from college on her first break and his having a conversation with her dad, a strong Republican:

Julie - Hey dad, ever since college I've been really growing Liberal ideas, and I truly support the Democratic platform now. Really, it's only fair that the rich pay more, and I think they should simply because they can.

Dad - Hm. Interesting Julie. Hey, by the way, how's your friend Amy doing?

Julie - Amy, well... she's doing alright I guess.

Dad - And how are you doing?

Julie - I'm doing excellent Dad!

Dad - How so?

Julie (proudly)- I have a 3.8 GPA and I'm acing my biology courses!

Dad - Julie, I'm extremely proud of you, and you know that. But, what about Amy?

Julie - Well, umm, Amy has a 1.9. Well I guess I don't feel all that bad for her, I mean she's happy. She parties all the time, she has a boyfriend, and she really doesn't care about college all that much. Grades don't seem to be on the top of her priority list.

Dad - Hm, that's sad. How about this! Why don't you go down to the dean's office and have a discussion, and see if you can transfer some of your GPA points over to Amy so you both get a 3.0! I mean, that's still great for your first year in college. You'll both be happy!

Julie - What?! No way! I worked my butt off for those grades. Last week I was up until 2 am every night studying for my finals. I nearly aced all of them. Julie went to three parties and came back to the room drunk every night.

Dad - So?

Julie - That would be unfair - I could'nt do that! They're my grades and I'm extremely proud of them. Julie deserved to fail her finals. That would simply be unfair. I deserve my grades.

Dad (pats her on the back) - Welcome to the Republican Party dear!

Republicans for Voldemort

A slogan seen on t-shirts and bumper stickers. It was made by someone who was attempting to be clever, and failed epically in that attempt. It's only used by people whose knowledge of politics is so dismally lacking, that they must boil down the entire American political system into the basic Good vs. Evil of the Harry Potter books, and associate the bad guy with the political party that they've been told to hate, even though they don't actually know why they hate it.

Anyone who, (a) has read the Harry Potter books, (b) has at least an elementary knowledge of politics and history, and (c) has an IQ above room temperature, should be able to figure out that Rowling clearly based Voldemort and his Death Eaters on Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. Both want a totalitarian government, both wish to oppress, persecute, and exterminate those that they see as being born genetically inferior based on the "purity" of their blood. They blame all of their problems on a certain group of people. They manipulate school curriculum in order to indoctrinate children against this group. The "pure blood" motif is also very similar to the outdated British Nobility system, of which the few that remain still cling to.
Even though you see "Republicans for Voldemort" crap everywhere, Voldemort really has nothing whatsoever to do with the Republican party of the U.S., or any other modern political party. If a comparison MUST be made, the Republicans are most like Scrimgeour: determined to protect us from terrorists, but perhaps a too heavy-handed with security. Meanwhile, Democrats are more like Fudge and Umbridge: in denial that such a big threat exists, over-regulating everything with too many rules, and dominating most media outlets.

Republican Premise

A statement for which there is no evidence but has been repeated so many times people assume it to be true.
"It's a well-known fact that both John and Robert Kennedy both had affairs with Marilyn Monroe."
"That's just a Republican premise. There's no verifiable evidence either man knew her apart from professionally as an entertainer."

Republican in the closet

A Republican who is in denial and can't admit to himself that he's being fucked in the ass by his own party.
My uncle is a Republican in the closet. He still can't admit the Republican fucked him over by writing and passing NAFTA and sending his job to Mexico.

Republican

A republican is the member of the Republican Party, the historic rival of the Democrat Party. The Republican and Democrat party are the two main parties in the United States. The Republican party was founded in 1854 by the name GOP (Grand Old Party) by opponents of the Kansas-Nebraska Act.

The platform of the Republican Party of the United States is generally based on American conservatism, in contrast to the modern liberalism of the Democrats. The party consists of moderates, sometimes described as establishment Republicans, and members of the Tea Party or Freedom Caucus, who have been described as populist, right-wing, and far-right. The party also incorporates several other factions, such as Libertarian Republicans, who advocate libertarian policies.

The positions of the Republican Party have evolved over time. Contemporarily, the party's economic conservatism involves support for lower taxes, free market capitalism, deregulation of corporations, and restrictions on labor unions. The party is also socially conservative, and support gun rights, and other traditional values, often with a Christian foundation, including restrictions on abortion. In foreign policy, Republicans usually favor increased military spending, unilateral action, and anti-Communist revolutions, especially during the 1980s and 1990s. Other Republican beliefs include restrictions on immigration, opposition to drug legalization, and support for school choice.
